Small City Within City Feel

Englewood

Englewood is technically in Arapahoe County, just South of Downtown Denver. Geographically, much of Englewood is situated equidistant (approx. 20 minutes) between downtown Denver and DTC (Denver Tech Center), and also is a hub for accessing the Light Rail System. For working professionals, who split their time between either of these locations, Englewood is a great option for convenience.

Englewood also has many other great attributes. What I personally love about Englewood is that it has a small town main street with a mix of older “mom n’ pop” style shops and restaurants alongside new, up and coming boutiques and trendy restaurants. Most cities and neighborhoods that surround Denver do not have this distinct “city within a city” feel. This type of accessibility to local community shopping and dining has become increasingly important among many homeowners.

In addition, Englewood has a commercial and mixed use section that is home to larger retailers as well as the newly built Earth Treks, the largest Climbing, Yoga and Fitness Center in the country. The fact that the City of Englewood is attracting new development and is investing in its infrastructure and updating main street (South Broadway) is an indicator that more great things are to come.

Although Englewood borders some of the most expensive neighborhoods in Denver such as Cherry Hills, you can still find affordable small single-family homes. There are a few larger apartment complexes for renters mixed in as well. In addition, there is a great variety of other housing options including condos and apartment complexes.

Another bonus of living in Englewood is that it is home to the Gothic Theater, a small historic (originally built in the 1920’s) music venue that has a history of booking some top-notch local and national bands. If you’re a music buff, and want to walk to a show from your house, look no further.

Englewood also has a couple major medical facilities, including the Swedish Medical Center and Craig Hospital. The Englewood City Centre is home to an outdoor Amphitheater for live music and other events. The City also places a big emphasis on Arts, including a Cultural Arts Commission that focuses on Art in public spaces, and the Outdoor Art Museum.

For families, Englewood is home to a super fun mid-size water park called Pirate’s Cove for the perfect summer entertainment. Besides being conveniently located to the foothills of Denver (30 minutes west), Englewood also has numerous creek trails and neighborhood parks for immediate access to open space, walking dogs, running and more.

Considering all the above factors, it’s no wonder that Englewood is becoming an extremely popular option. For those looking for a convenient location as well as a small community feel, while still being close to Downtown and DTC, Englewood should definitely be on your radar.
