Edgewater
The City of Edgewater is a unique and popular option for many residents of Denver. Situated along the west side of Sloans Lake (Denver’s largest urban body of water and outdoor park), and tucked between Wheatridge to the north and Lakewood to the South and West, this neighborhood definitely can boast the phrase “Location, Location, Location”.
What I personally like about Edgewater, besides the incredible location, is that they have made a concerted effort to maintain some of the small town feel by limiting development in residential neighborhoods, yet investing in some great local commercial and mixed use for residents. You will discover cute, older single-family homes with large lots, tucked away amongst older tree canopies, within walking distance to the Lake, restaurants and shopping. Along Sheridan facing the Lake, there are restaurants and breweries with unparalleled views of Sloans Lake with the City of Denver skyline in the backdrop.
The newest addition to the Edgewater community is the Edgewater Public Market, which took over an older shopping center and has been converted into a trendy “indoor food truck venue”, with more than 10 restaurants, local boutiques, a new brewery and a roof top patio dining with views of the lake and city. Talk about a great place to enjoy a beer after work with friends and family!
In addition to the newer trendy venues like Edgewater Public Market, Edgewater has a cute “main street” off 25th Ave that is home to great restaurants, shops, and Joyride Brewery (also with a rooftop deck overlooking Sloans Lake). The City of Edgewater also hosts a weekly Farmers Market during the growing seasons along the Main Street.
For all these reasons, the Edgewater housing market can translate into a higher price per square foot. But, many homeowners feel this is a small price to pay for the convenience, sense of community, proximity to Sloans Lake, and easy commute to either the mountains or downtown Denver.
